  7. HISTORY:
  8.  
  9.     Kwik Disk was first released as a Desktop Accessory in August 1988. It
  10. was intended to increase the access time for reading and writing to the floppy
  11. drives. As it was continually updated, we added the ability to select the
  12. seekrate for each drive separately, increased drive access speed and optimised
  13. the accessory to be as fast as possible and use as little memory as possible.

  15.     Next we came up with a Kwik Disk program that would run from the AUTO
  16. folder. This would install Kwik Disk at boot-up and use as little memory as
  17. possible. Later it was further optimised until it would use LESS THAN 600
  18. BYTES!

  20. OUR LATEST DEVELOPMENT:
  21.  
  22.     All this was great. We had increased our access speed to as much as
  23. 200% while using a minimal amount of memory so, what else could we possibly do
  24. to further improve this wonderful utility? Three things had not yet been done
  25. until now:
  26.  
  27.     1) A configuration program 
  28.         (for the user to enter his/her own settings for boot-up time)
  29.  
  30.     2) Compatability with all present and future versions of TOS
  31.  
  32.     3) A version of Kwik Disk that would load from the bootsector
  33.         of a floppy-disk and USE NO MEMORY AT ALL!
  34.  
  35. Every one of the above features are built in to the new Kwik Disk Configuration
  36. Editor (refered to as KDCE hereon).
  37.  
  38.     The KDCE will create a custom version of the Kwik Disk Accessory, Auto
  39. Program and/or Bootsector Program tailored by you and specifically for your
  40. computer system.
  41.  
  42. NOTE: You Must Create A Version of Kwik Disk For Each System You Own, or a
  43.     New Version Each Time You Update Your Version of TOS. The KDCE Is What
  44.     Senses What Version Of TOS It Is Running Under, NOT THE ACCESSORY OR
  45.     PROGRAMS IT CREATES.

  47.     There is no need to worry where to put the KDCE. It will determine
  48. what drive the system was booted from and write the Accessory and Auto Program
  49. to that drive. For the Auto Program, it will place it in the AUTO folder if
  50. present or first create one if not. The Bootsector Program will ALWAYS be sent
  51. the the disk in drive A.

  53.     Once inside the KDCE you will see the settings you can make and the
  54. buttons to create the files. The Kwik Disk Accessory will set you screen colors
  55. at boot-up so, there are numbers for setting the colors. Select what color you
  56. wish to change (i.e. Screen, Text....), then, with the mouse and its left
  57. button, click on each number to change the color. Sorry, STE colors are not
  58. supported but will be to registered users.

  64. that was the intent and, its usefulness is quite big. More time was put into
  65. this little utility than many of you may have thought. We feel that a request
